Sand beats air
Summer highs regularly reach the 90s and above, and the sand itself can become too hot to touch. Air temperature understates the risk at ground level. Ride the edges of the day.
Cold semi-arid
Low humidity means big day-to-night temperature swings in every season. Recorded extremes here run from 109°F down to -39°F. Pack a warm layer even in summer.
